I feel powerful today! As of today, I am walking in a new level of my dominion power and authority. The power and authority are not new; I’ve carried them all along. But I got a revelation about how powerful I am as a redeemed child of God, and as a joint heir to His throne. Honestly, I feel like I could be an MMA fighter right about now. Where did all of this power come from, you ask? I’ll tell you.
It all started with me being enraged. I was boiling mad. I was full of raged, “cooked” you might say, because I reached my breaking point with the enemy’s attacks and subterfuge against me and my family. I grew tired of being pelted and punched on every side, and in every area of my life. I became overly angry with how the enemy was crippling my family members with his lies. I was so angry and frustrated, but the problem arose when I directed my anger and frustrations at the people and problems in my life rather than at the source of my angst and heartache.
I eventually hit a breaking point — I was exhausted and desperate and fired up all at once. I threw my hands in the air physically and emotionally (my surrender was a signal to the Lord that I was stepping out of His lane). That’s when I got a revelation. That’s when I remembered I was carrying an arsenal of heavy-duty, Goliath-killing, march around the walls until they crumble, enemy-annihilating artillery: my mouth.
Yep. My mouth. More specifically, my tongue. A small organ with life-transforming, shackle-breaking power.
Do you know how powerful our mouths are?! When we speak, it’s a demonstration that we believe what we utter with hearts, and that’s ginormously POWERFUL! When we speak — decree, declare and confess– things begin to happen. We set things in motion for atmosphere to shift…how many times did the Lord command a prophet to “say this” or “say that”? Okay, I haven’t done the numbers, but my point is His commands were most often to speak rather than to draw a picture. And consider the various passages on faith He left us. Many of them mention speaking. So, yeah, there is much power in our tongue.
In this particular phase of my ongoing renewal, I realized that I had freed myself with my previous declarations and confessions of freedom and liberty, but I still had the mindset of a slave. I thought and behaved as a slave. I liken this to the thousands and thousands of African-American slaves who were freed by President Lincoln’s signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, yet were unaware, in some cases, for as many as three years. This is where the Juneteenth celebration comes from. So I had emancipated myself with my own proclamation, but continued living far beneath my rights as a free, Kingdom citizen. I had actually had to tell myself to have a stadium of seats. Crazy.
After I was done SMH at myself, I got busy. I started punching satan in his dumb throat left and right. LOL. I dove into the Word to study and meditate on Scriptures about my power as a child of God, and freedom from bondage. Yes!!! Several passages fuel my confidence, but here lately I’ve been sitting with Hebrews 2, and in particular, verses 6-8, and 13-16. If you have an ounce of timidity or doubt about who you are, and how much power God has embedded in you, I encourage you to read these verses (the entire chapter if you can).
So often we are bamboozled and led astray by the enemy’s wiles, which are never upgraded or modernized. He always comes with the exact, same ploys. That guy –and all his imps, minions and peeps– is seriously lacking in the area of creativity and innovation. Don’t let him trick you out of your divine Kingdom power and authority. Don’t let him muddy your self-image or Kingdom identity. You are good enough. You are more than enough. And you are approved by the Great I Am, and only His approval has any merit. He didn’t send His Son for you to continue in death living a life in bondage. HE CAME TO GIVE US ALL LIFE, AND LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY.
Satan despises our learning and maturation. Once we realize who we are and how much power we were afforded with the Cross, there is nothing we cannot do. Take. Those. Shackles. Off! The shackles have been loosened. Now, all you need to do is START TALKING!!
